My Movie Trailer
This part of my Genius Hour was definitely the most fun to make, as well as the most time consuming. I used iMovie to create this trailer and I really enjoyed the fact that iMovie supplied templates for many different styles of movie trailers that I could just import my footage into.
The interface was confusing at first but easy enough to figure out with a bit of playing. I think it would be very easy for students in Junior and up to use as well to make their own school projects using this application.
My only comment would be that you have to have footage to use in every frame of the template. There is no option to cut out pre-made frames you don't intend on using, which is why I found this commercial took so long to make. Every time I thought I had enough footage, it would turn out I still needed something to put in frame "x". I had to keep going back and shooting and uploading different things until all the frames were full. If I were to assign students to use iMovie to make a trailer, I would advise them to look through all the templates and keep in mind that they have to use/fill every frame that is provided, so they might not make the same mistake I did!
